YMCA of the Rockies

Bobbie & I have escaped the Texas heat for a week.  We are enjoying the YMCA of the rockies - hiking, birding, photographing, eating, etc....  The temps are in the 50 - 75 deg range with a little rain.  There is still quite a bit of snow in the mountains and some high trails aren't open yet.

Today we hiked around Lake Lilly and enjoyed the flowers, birds and ducks

.

We went to a bird banding in the afternoon.   Birding is the 2nd largest hobby and is a muli-Billion $ industry.  Researchers use banding data to study the lives of birds - some species live as long as 60 years and some species will peck your nose off if you get too close.

We also saw elk in Moraine Valley

More tomorrow
